As our numbers soar, human choices, cultures, habits and desires
define more and more of what happens in the earth's ecosytem, which species mutiply, which ones go extinct. My ecosystem work seeks to create an active
culture of informed involvement in the living world. It involves exhaustive
research about specific human- impacted ecosystems and about the particular needs
of certain species. The canvasses I use, such as nesting houses or basking
perches, often replace ecosystem infrastructure lost to the needs or the whims of human beings.
